The Presidency may have agreed to sack Ibrahim Magu as the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC). The move followed a recent crucial meeting between the leadership of the National Assembly and the Presidency. The Senate had twice refused to confirm Magu as the Chairman of the EFCC after he reportedly "failed the confirmation interview." Despite his rejection by the Senate, the President has kept him in office to the consternation of the National Assembly.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC). The former leader of the APC made his decision known in a statement personally signed and released to newsmen on Friday. The Senate Committee mandated to investigate the sacked Chairman of Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Maina has accused the Economic and Financial Crime Commission of sharing the over 222 recovered houses among officials of the Commission. Members of Education Rights Campaign (ERC) have rejected the 7.04 per cent allocation to the education sector in the 2018 budget proposal presented by President Muhammadu Bauhari to the joint session of the National Assembly. The group made its position known in a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Comrade Hassan Taiwo Soweto. The statement berated the current administration for paying lip service to issues relating to education.
