President Buhari Departs Nigeria To Cote d’Ivoire

President Muhammadu Buhari has departed Abuja, Nigeria on Tuesday, to attend the 5th European Union-African Union (EU-AU) Summit in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, on November 28 and 29.

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed key finance officials to meet with representatives of Nigeria Governors’ Forum to determine how much of their unpaid debts can be released to them before Christmas.

The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said Buhari gave the directive while responding to pleas by the governors who visited him at the State House, Abuja, on Monday.

Shehu said the Chairman of the Forum, Gov.Abdul-Aziz Yari of Zamfara, had asked that the President give a commitment to pay all outstanding debts owed the States from London and Paris Club deductions to ease their financial hardships.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, has appealed to the media to stop mocking the Federal Government and support the war against corruption.

Mr Mohammed made the appeal in Abuja on Monday at the 68th General Assembly where he was the special guest of honour.

“Without mincing words, let me use this platform to appeal directly to the media, in general, to join this administration in facing the problem of corruption,” he said.
