Edo Election: I’m Not Down, Says Oshiomhole


Former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has said he was not down, contrary to what many would be thinking in the aftermath of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP’s victory in the September 19 governorship election. He also said life is not always about winning.

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Thursday said he was committed to the free and fair governorship election in Edo State, warning political parties, candidates, agents, and security officials against "do-or-die" politics. Buhari Unveils ‘Nigeria At 60’ Logo


President Muhammadu Buhari has on Wednesday unveiled the logo and theme to be used during Nigeria’s Diamond Jubilee celebration in October. The unveiling of the 60th independence celebration logo with the theme “Together shall we be” took place during the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja, with Vice president Yemi Osinbajo and Federal Ministers in attendance. Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami who also doubles as the Chairman, Diamond Innovation Change Sub-Committee, Nigeria @60 Inter-ministerial Committee said the upcoming celebration is in line with COVID-19 safety guidelines.

N30,000 Artisan Grant: FG Commence Disbursement In 11 States

The Presidency has disclosed that artisans in 11 states nationwide and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja have started receiving alerts of the N30,000 support of the COVID-19 survival fund. Laolu Akande, spokesperson to the Vice President stated this in Abuja today that the first trenches of the beneficiaries have started receiving the money. The said money captured under Artisan Support Scheme was meant to support Artisans as a survival fund to cushion effect from the hardship inflicted by the coronavirus and support the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) nationwide.

President Buhari Re-appoints Mahmood Yakubu As INEC Chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari has re-appointed the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, for a second term in office. President Buhari, in a letter sent to President of the Senate, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan on Tuesday, said his decision was in tandem with the provision of Section 154 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended). Yakubu's reappointment is, however, subject to a Senate confirmation. The spokesperson to Mr. President, Femi Adesina made the announcement public on Tuesday.

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Yekini Nabena has hinted that the next presidential candidate of their party would be product of stakeholder negotiation. Nabena stated this while speaking with the Sun newspaper, he also gave clues on how the South East can go about actualising their quest for Igbo presidency in the 2023 general election.

Reps Overturn National Water Resources Bill


The House of Representatives has rescinded the passage of the controversial National Water resources bill over flaws in the procedure that led to its passage bill. Upon resumption on Tuesday, a member of the House, Ben Nzondo from Benue State moved a point of privilege and argued that the proper procedure was not followed on the bill. In his ruling, speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila concluded that Nzondo had raised fundamental objections that must be looked into. Citing several sections of the House rules to back Mzondu's argument, he said: "I have painstakingly searched through all the journals of the House and cannot find where the Bill is gazetted and I stand to be challenged or corrected. “I wish to move, relying on Order 8, Rule 8, and the above-stated rules, that the House do rescind/expunge its decision of 23rd July 2020, which adopted the National Water Resources Bill 2020 H3921 to have been read the third time from our records. I so move,” Mzondu said.

Former Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan Moves To PDP


Former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan on Monday, defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Ex-governor who made the above information public on his Twitter handle said “I am back to join forces with other party greats to strengthen our party, the largest Party in Africa -PDP!.” Uduaghan, who was Delta State Governor for eight years in the build up to 2019 elections jumped ship to the APC where he contested the senatorial seat and lost.
