2023: Mock Accreditation Of Voters To Hold Feb. 4-INEC Chairman


In preparation for the 2023 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it would conduct mock accreditation of registered voters on Saturday, February 4, 2023, which was made known on Friday by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu in a meeting with all the 37 Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) across the country, adding that the exercise is meant to test the efficacy of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) ahead of the Presidential and National Assembly scheduled to hold on February 25, 2023.

Adeleke Faults Tribunal’s Judgment, Vows To Appeal


The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has faulted the judgment of the governorship election petitions tribunal describing it as “a miscarriage of justice”, vowing to challenge the ruling at the Court of Appeal. The State Governorship election petitions tribunal sitting in Osogbo nullified the election of Adeleke as Governor of the state. In its ruling on Friday, the tribunal declared Gboyega Oyetola the validly elected governor of the state. In August 2022, Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC) petitioned the tribunal to challenge the election victory of Adeleke. Oyetola also challenged Adeleke’s eligibility to contest the election.

The 34 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Obinze, Owerri, says it remains committed to the security of lives of Imo electorate during and after the 2023 elections. The Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. Sani Sulaiman, said this on Saturday during the 2022 edition of the West African Social Activities (WASA) at the Obinze Barracks.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) by an additional one week, hence bringing the end of the collection process to 5th February 2023, as disclosed by the INEC's National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye. INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, had on Friday said his meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) will deliberate on the ongoing collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in its 774 Local Government Offices nationwide.

Tinubu Denies Tackling President Buhari Over Fuel Scarcity, Naira Redesign


Presidential candidate of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has faulted the notion in certain quarters that he attacked President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration over the lingering fuel scarcity and naira redesign policy.
