The All Progressives Congress (APC) has bemoaned the exit of the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar from the party, describing his move to the Peoples Democratic Party as unfortunate. The National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun who stated this in a chat with Vanguard, however, said the party was not surprised as indications of his defection emerged 18 months ago.

The Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has called on reporters to leave him out of 2019 general elections as he was engrossed with issues relating to governance. Gov. Tambuwal in a chat with Vanguard said the road to 2019 was still long assuring that at the appropriate time, the issue would be handled effectively.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday called on the private sector to play the leading role in reviving the education sector as the federal government cannot achieve this without crucial collaboration and intervention. The President stated this during the 47th Convocation of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), in Enugu state.

Senator Shehu Sani has warned President Muhammadu Buhari to be wary of some politicians pretending to love him as most of them actually hate him. The Senator Representing Kaduna Central District gave the warning through a post on his Facebook page. He explained that those surrounding the President are only pretending to love him. He said the pretentious love was borne out of fear and not his philosophy.

The Etinan Local Government Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), Akwa Ibom state has pulled out of the Local Government Council elections following alleged widespread violence and allegations of rigging and other malpractices. The Party made its position known in a statement issued on Saturday by its leader, Chief Sunny Udo, Vice Chairman, APC Etinan Local Government Area, Mr. Idorenyin Thompson; and APC chairmanship candidate, Dr. Mrs. Esther Etuk.

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Saturday travel to Jordan to join his counterparts in Aqaba, Jordan to review strategies in fighting terrorism and reinforce joint security structures that will be more proactive in preventing terror attacks. The planned trip was made known on Thursday in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina.
