Justice Tukur Aliyu of the Kaduna State High Court has fixed December 15, 2017 to hear the suit filed by the embattled former Chairman of the Presidential Pension Reform Task Team, Mr Abdulrasheed Maina to stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from arresting or prosecuting him over alleged corruption.

Maina had through his lawyer, Muhammad Sani Katu, filed the suit at the court to challenge the power of the EFCC to declare him wanted or seize his properties in Kaduna and Abuja over allegations of corruption leveled against him by the anti-graft agency.

Senator Stella Adaeze Oduah has described the victory of incumbent governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano in the just concluded governorship election as an end to impunity in the state, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Oduah, a senator under the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) who congratulated Obiano for the victory which she described as a victory for all Anambra people, also commended all Anambra indigenes for saying no to impunity and making sure that their votes counted.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday commiserated with the entire Oko Kingdom, the good people of Anambra state and the family of late Dr. Alex Ekwueme over the loss of the patriarch. The President in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina acknowledged the commitment of the late former Vice President to the unity of the country and prayed God to grant the family and the entire country the fortitude to bear the loss.

The Governor of Anambra state and the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Willie Obiano was yesterday declared the winner of the governorship election conducted on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Gov. Obiano was declared winner after winning all the twenty one Local Government Areas in the state.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday allayed fears that the sting on some members of the judiciary early in the year was intended to intimidate the judiciary.

Buhari spoke at the opening of the 2017 All Nigerian Judges’ Conference of Superior Courts, in Abuja.

Former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme has been confirmed dead. According to a statement issued by his brother and the Traditional ruler of Oko in Anambra state, Igwe Laz Ekwueme , the former Vice President died on Sunday night around 10:00pm in London where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
