Nigeria at 59: Buhari Vows to Stamp Out Hate Speech and Cybercrime

President Muhammadu Buhari revealed he is bothered with the increasing rate of abuse in the technology which has resulted in hate speech and increased cybercrime, saying it has lead to abuse in social media. Buhari made these remarks while addressing Nigerians via broadcast to mark the 59th independence anniversary in Abuja on Tuesday.

The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) on Thursday explained the reason why Winifred Oy0-Ita, the former Head of Service (HoS) of the Federation was sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari. The organisation in a statement signed by its Chairman, Niyi Akinsiju in Abuja said Oyo-Ita was sacked because the President has zero-tolerance for corruption.
