Deregistration of 74 Political Parties, Court Upheld INEC Decision

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has upheld the power of the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister political parties which failed to comply with the provision of the law particularly section 225 A of the 1999 constitution as amended.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved a new policy structure on how elections are to be conducted during this coronavirus pandemic.  The guideline known as Policy on Conducting Elections in the Context of COVID-19 Pandemic was made public on Thursday, May 21, in a statement issued by Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee.
