At least 100 persons have been reportedly killed after Camouflage-clad gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons at concertgoers on the outskirts of Moscow on Friday. According to reports, this is one of the deadliest attacks in Russia since the 2004 Beslan school siege when gunmen sprayed civilians with bullets just before Soviet-era rock group "Picnic" was to perform at around 8 pm local time. Following a series of verified videos on media spaces, people can be seen taking their seats in the hall, then rushing for the exits as repeated gunfire echoed above screams. Other videos showed men shooting at groups of people, in another, we can see Some victims lying motionless in pools of blood.
Police, special forces, and 70 ambulances attended the scene, with some video footage showing flames leaping into the sky and plumes of black smoke rising above the venue.
It was not immediately unclear who the attackers were, however, Islamic State militants have claimed responsibility for the attack, the group's Amaq agency said on Telegram.
According to the group, "killing and wounding hundreds and causing great destruction to the place before they withdrew to their bases safely."
After the attack, it was reported that Russia has tightened security at airports, transportation stations, and across the capital.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was being updated by security chiefs about the situation, including from Alexander Bortnikov, the head of the Federal Security Service (FSB), the Kremlin said.
