The former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has taken responsibility for the party's failure to win the 2015 Presidential election. Dr. Jonathan stated this on Wednesday when Chief Olabode George and his supporters paid him a courtesy visit in Otuoke, Bayelsa state.

According him;

“Whether I like it or not, I must take responsibility for the defeat because I led the party to the election. The only thing that will make me sleep well is to ensure that the PDP comes back to power.”

He added that his main concern now is to "ensure that the Peoples Democratic Party regains the Presidency in 2019.”

To actualize this, the former President said he was working with critical stakeholders in the party to regain the confidence of the electorates and eschew mistakes of the past.

Chief Bode George who is seeking to be elected as the National Chairman of the party congratulated Jonathan on his 60th birthday and appealed to him to ensure that the party regains its pride of place in the political equation of the country.

He lamented that the failure of the National Executive Committee of the party to apply the micro-zoning principle of the party in respect of the Chairmanship position was throwing up challenges that could polarize the party.
