Former Governor of Kano state, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has shelved his planned visit to Kano following pressure from stakeholders and well-meaning Nigerians. The former Secretary of the State Government, Rabiu Suleiman Bichi who made this known at a press briefing held at Lugard Hall, the headquarters of Kwankwasiyya Movement in Kano said based on pressure from well-meaning Nigerians, the visit has been suspended indefinitely.
According to him
“In view of the above and after lengthy consultation with well-meaning Nigerians, home and abroad, we painfully have decided to shelve the scheduled visit at the moment"
The Commissioner of Police in Kano state had earlier warned the Senator to shelve his proposed visit to the state as it coincided with a state government event scheduled for the same day. He maintained that the government would hold him responsible in the event of possible breakdown of law and order.
His apprehension was said to have been informed by recent violent clashes between supporters of the incumbent Governor and Kwankwaso.
Sen. Kwankwaso had insisted on going ahead with the visit noting that Unmanned Aerial Vehicles would be deployed to cover his visit.
