Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu was conspicuously absent in court as his treason trial resumed in Abuja. Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, who earlier gave the secessionist campaigner bail, has fixed Nov.20 for his sureties to produce him and explain his absence to the court.

The Vice-President, Prof.Yemi Osinbajo flagged off the N120 billion Bodo-Bonny road projects. The ground breaking ceremony took place at Bonny. The cost of the project will be funded by the federal government and Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) with each contributing 50% of the total cost.

The Norwegian Refugee Council says 1.8 million persons accounting for over 85% of persons displaced by Boko Haram insurgency are unwilling to return to their ancestral communities soon in the North-East. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), former President, Nigerian Bar Association, on Monday dragged President Muhammadu Buhari before a Federal High Court in Abuja questioning the legality of allocating the position of the Minister of Petroleum to himself. Buhari appointed Ibe Kachikwu as minister of state for petroleum resources, and made himself the senior minister. In a suit which the Attorney-General of the Federation is listed as a respondent, Agbakoba asked the court to determine if Buhari could hold the position of minister without the confirmation of the national assembly.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, said the federal government will enforce the “no-work, no-pay” rule with a view to containing incessant strikes resulting in unnecessary disruption in various sectors. Niger State Governor, Sani Bello, has dissolved the State Executive Council over non-performance. According to him, the commissioners were sacked as they were not helping him to achieve the desired goals and aspirations of his administration. The Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Ladan, who confirmed the sack, said the governor has the right to dissolve his cabinet at any time.
