The Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, Titus Lamorde has confirmed reports that four notorious kidnap suspects have escaped from detention in Abakiliki, the state capital. The Commissioner of Police who made the disclosure in a chat with NAN identified the suspects as Ogonna Alioke, Friday Nwangbo, Emeka Nwangbo and Ekene Omenyi.

Nigerian militant group Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) says it has ended its ceasefire and will resume immediate attacks in the oil-rich south. “We can assure you that every oil installation in our region will feel the warmth of the wrath of the Niger Delta Avengers,” the group said in a statement posted on its website Friday afternoon.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday, commiserated with the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu on the demise of his son, Jide Tinubu. In a press release signed by the national publicity secretary of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the PDP described Jide’s death as “sad, shocking and very painful.”

The detained former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki has told the Federal High Court in Abuja, that he could no long remember the details of his dealings with the former National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in 2014. Speaking for the first time, in continuation of Metuh’s trial today, November 1, in court, when asked if he had any dealing with Metuh or his company, Dasuki said he cannot recall if he had any dealings with them from his memory.

Former Ghanaian President, John Mahama on Thursday said Africa’s development lies in their hands and called on well meaning Africans to rise to the occasion and develop the continent. He made the assertion while presenting an emotional keynote address themed “Challenges of Governance and Development in Africa” as part of events to commemorate the graduation ceremony of participants at the Executive Intelligence Management Course organized by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has inaugurated the Nigerian Industrial Policy and Competitiveness Advisory Council (NIPCAC), at the State House. It will be recalled that the Federal Executive Council earlier approved the establishment of NIPCAC in March 2017 as a vehicle for partnering with the private sector to drive Nigeria’s industrialisation agenda.
