The Nigeria Federal Executive has approved an upward review of the cost for the completion of work on the shoreline protection truck and trailer park at the Tincan Island Container Terminal, Lagos. Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola disclosed this while briefing Journalists on the outcome of Wednesday’s cabinet meeting, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Nine senators have kicked against the amendment of the timetable for the 2019 elections.

Among the senators are Abdullahi Adamu (Nasarawa West), Binta Garba (Adamawa North) and Omo Ovie-Agege (Delta central).

The upper legislative chamber adopted the amended timetable after it considered a conference committee report on Wednesday.

But the senators opposed to it said the report that was laid and considered in the upper legislative chamber was “done in a rush”.

The Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday said contrary to reports, no section of the country will impose a presidential candidate on the party ahead of the 2019 general elections. The National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Kola Ologbondiyan stated this in a brief interview with Punch. He disclosed that the choice of the party's presidential candidate would be made by members of the party who would serve as delegates at the party's convention.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says over 250, 000 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have yet to be collected by registered voters in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mrs Ndidi Okafor, Head, Voter Education and Publicity, Gender and Civil Society Liaison, INEC, FCT, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja that the rate of PVC collection in the area was low.

Okafor said that the uncollected PVCs were from the 2011, 2014, and 2016 voter registration by the commission in the territory.

The indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Tuesday insisted that the Court of Appeal handling the case of its embattled leader, Nnamdi Kanu should deliver its judgment despite the alleged disappearance of his case file. The group had earlier raised alarm over the disappearance of the case file, describing the situation as a huge joke.
