A former Deputy Governor of the CBN, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, announced on Monday that he was consulting widely to run for the presidency in 2019.
Moghalu told political correspondents in Lagos that time had come for technocrats, intellectuals and experienced people to take power from Nigeria’s career politicians.
He said that he would not be deterred from joining the race, in spite of speculations that 2023 was the year slated for Igbos to have a shot at the presidency.

The President on Monday, February 12 held a meeting with security chiefs and some top government officials at the presidential villa in Abuja.
The meeting also had in attendance the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Members of the Middle Belt Youth Council have said that the agenda of the North has always been to dominate the region and the South politically, stressing that the development has to change in the next general elections. 2019: Northern Elders In Critical Meeting, Call For Unity, Justice, Equity
Some Northern political elite have started consultations preparatory for a political alliance with other geo-political zones based on unity, equity and justice. The elite, who converged on Abuja on Saturday, under the aegis of Northern Elders and Stakeholders Conversation, said they would work towards promoting Northern unity ahead of 2019 presidential election. The meeting was co-convened by Dr Bello Mohammed, former Minister of Defence, Sen. Ibrahim Mantu, former Deputy Senate President and Sen. Paul Wampana.
