Ahead of the formal inauguration of Operation Cat Race today, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, has visited Governor Samuel Ortom at the Government House in Makurdi the Benue State capital.

The military exercise is aimed at curbing conflicts and other criminal activities in the north central.

The secretariat of the faction of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna has been demolished.

The controversial secretariat is reported to have been demolished in the early hours of Tuesday.

The Secretariat is located at number 11B Sambo in the state capital.

The Secretariat belongs to the faction loyal to the suspended senators representing Kaduna Central, Sen. Shehu Sani and that of Kaduna North zone, Sen. Suleiman Hunkuyi.

Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka has called on Nigerians to subject him to psychiatric test any day he decides to associate with former President Olusegun Obasanjo or even become a member of his Coalition for Nigeria Movement that is seeking to unseat President Muhammadu Buhari. Soyinka who stated this during an interview with BBC Yoruba said the coalition was not meant for people like him. He called on Nigerians to view the Movement with suspicion as the former President might be up to something sinister.

A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, loyal to the state Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has invalidated the six-month suspension slammed on him by another faction of the party. Recall that two factions of the party, the ‘Akida APC’ and the ‘Restoration APC’ had, after a stakeholders’ meeting on Sunday, announced the suspension of the governor for six months over what they described as “anti-party activities.

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state, who is also the Chairman, National Economic Council Technical sub Committee on Ending Herders/Farmers Crisis, has urged warring communities in Taraba to sheathe their sword, eschew violence and embrace peace. Umahi made the appeal on Monday, at a stakeholders’ meeting with people of the state on the way out of the lingering herders/farmers crisis.

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa, has referred to both Ibrahim Babangida and Olusegun Obasanjo's letters to President Muhammadu Buhari, as being "stupid" following their separate statements recommending that the President refrain from seeking re-election in 2019.

The former governor, while addressing the press stressed that “nobody should be deceived,” as both ex-leaders never performed better than President Buhari, during their administration.

“That is stupid. Nobody should be deceived. They have not performed better than Buhari. In what way have any of them performed better than Buhari? In fact, you can say Buhari is less exposed to so many things like corruption and so on," Mr Musa pointed out.
