Former president General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has met with President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The meeting which held on Tuesday lasted for about 25 minutes.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has taken another swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari over his administration's poor handling of the fight against corruption. Obasanjo in his latest attack accused Buhari of allowing corrupt people to be in charge of anti-corruption war. He stated this in an interview with Germany’s international broadcasting outlet, Deutsche Welle.

Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha on Monday said he will strongly support his son in-law, Uche Nwosu as his successor in 2019 if he decides to contest the governorship election. The Governor disclosed this in a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo. According to the statement, the Governor made his position known when the leaders of the All Progressives Congress from the Owerri Municipal Council visited him on Monday to urge him to encourage Nwosu to vie for the governorship seat.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved 10 additional registration centres in Enugu State for the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Mr Emeka Ononammadu, disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Tuesday.

Ononammadu said that the new centres were in addition to eight others earlier created and functioning across the state.

He explained that the 18 registration centres excluded the existing centres in INEC offices in each of the 17 local government areas in the state, fully deployed for the exercise.

Governors of the thirty six states in Nigeria have endorsed the recent advocacy to establish state police and make it part of the country’s constitution. The Governors under the auspices of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), confirmed this latest development in Monday at the end of a two day National Security Summit held in Abuja.

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Uche Secondu on Monday said some governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Central will soon join them, as the party is seriously engaging them. Secondus who stated this in Abia state during his one-day working visit to the State Executive Council of the party hinted that the party would soon organize a grand reception for the Governors.
