Weeks after the controversy triggered by a statement he issued on behalf of his principal appears to have been buried, Former President Ibrahim Babangida's spokesman, Kassim Afegbua has spoken up again regarding President Muhammadu Buhari's reelection bid in 2019. Afegbua in an interview with Vanguard said he would advise President Buhari not to seek second term if he (Buhari) were his father. He explained that the advised would prevent his 'father' from being vilified by Nigerians.

The Presidency says though it welcomes constructive criticism from the anti-corruption watchdog, Transparency International (TI), and that the new low ranking of the country on the latest Transparency International Corruption Perception Index is out of tune with concrete and verifiable achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration achievements in the anti graft war since it came into office in May 2015.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday met the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun behind closed doors, following a fierce letter by the National Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu accusing him of sabotaging ongoing reconciliatory moves in the party.

All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has accused National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun of sabotaging his reconciliation efforts in the party.

In a February 21 letter of complaint to Oyegun, Tinubu said the chairman had compounded the challenge of reconciliation by taking “improper unilateral decisions” on issues affecting national and state chapters.

Tinubu added that Odigie- Oyegun had refused to cooperate by delaying the release of information critical to the resolution of crises in state chapters.

The former Lagos State Governor made the observations in the letter to titled: “Actions and conduct weakening the party from within”, copies of which were sent to President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki and House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday replied the letter written by the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu accusing him of sabotaging his assignment to reconcile aggrieved members of the APC. His reply is coming shortly after the president summoned him to defend the allegations made in Tinubu's letter. Oyegun who had met the President behind closed door at the State House around 3pm assured Tinubu of his support in his letter.

2019: Give Me More Time To Decide On Re-Election, Buhari Tells APC Governors

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked state governors of the All Progressives Congress to give him more time to decide whether he will see re-election in 2019.

The President made the request during a meeting with the governors in the Presidential Villa on Thursday night.

Fela Durotoye, a consulting guru, leadership coach and public speaker, says he will be running for president, come 2019. The 46-year-old declared his intentions on Thursday, adding that he has researched all the national parties for a few months and has settled for the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN).
