Explosion Rocks Ghana, Many Feared Dead

The Ghanian President Nana Akufo-Addo in a tweet has revealed and described the explosion that occurred in Bogoso, a town in Western Ghana as a "truly sad, unfortunate and tragic incident". According to local authorities, the explosion happened when a mining truck loaded with explosives collided with a motorcycle on the evening of 20th January 2022, and many were feared dead.

Former Mali President Keita Dies At 76

Ibrahim Boubakar Keita, the former Mali president has died at the age of 76, His family informed AFP news that Mr. Keita died on Sunday in Bamako. The former president led Mali from 2013 until he was ousted in a military junta in the year 2020. Mr. Keita was just two years into his second tenure of five years-term when a widespread protest against his government engulfed the country and attracted military intervention who toppled him, making the country under sanction for failing to restore civilian rule.

AFCON: Cameroonian Separatists Group Bombs Host City, Limbe

According to reports, separatist fighters in the Anglophone region of Cameroon have set off an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the town of Limbe which was scheduled to host the Group F matches of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Local police said the explosion went off early Thursday at Half-Mile neighborhood of Limbe but no one was reported injured in the explosion. Limbe was set to host Tunisia, Mali, Mauritania, and Gambia in the Group F matches of the AFCON tournament.
