NNPP Appoints New National Chairman

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has announced the appointment as Dr. Ajuji Ahmed as the party’s new national chairman which was made known in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Yakubu Shendam. The statement reads in part, “Dr. Ajuji Ahmed has been elected as the new Acting National Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), following the resignation of Abba Kawu Ali.

Yar'Adua Replaces Ningi As Northern Senators Forum Chairman

Abdulaziz Yar’adua, the senator representing Katsina Central Senatorial District, has been appointed as Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF). The Forum also appointed Mohammed Monguno, the senator representing Borno North Senatorial District, as its publicity secretary. The forum appointed the duo on Wednesday following the resignation of the suspended senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Abdul Ningi as chairman of the forum. Mr Monguno, a lawyer, replaced the senator representing Kano South Senatorial District, Summaila Kawu, as the forum’s spokesperson. Mr Yar’adua, younger brother to the late President Umaru Yar’adua, in his acceptance speech, expressed appreciation to his colleagues for entrusting him with the position. The senator assured that his leadership would prioritise the interest of the country and the development of the northern region.

NIMASA DG: President Tinubu Appoints Mobereola

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Dayo Mobereola as the new Director General (DG) of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), who replaces the outgoing DG, Mr. Bashir Jamoh. This development was made known in a statement on issued Tuesday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Ajuri Ngelale, stating that new DG’s appointment was for an initial term of four years, subject to renewal.

Edo Election: APC Names Okpebholo Running Mate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership has named Dennis Idahosa as running mate to Senator Monday Okpebholo in the forthcoming Edo gubernatorial polls. Okpebholo, who during the February 17 primary election came second to Idahosa; although, was announced winner in a parallel election.

Olubadan Of Ibadan Dies Aged 81

The 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan Land, HRM Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, has passed away at the age of 81. The media aide to the late monarch Oladele Ogunsola revealed in a statement made available to journalists that Oba Balogun died on Thursday evening, a few hours after admission at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, Oyo state capital. The remains of the late monarch will be interred according to Islamic rites Friday March 15, 2024, at his Aliiwo ancestral home in Ibadan. “Oba Balogun would be buried at his Aliiwo ancestral home by 4.pm on Friday (today), according to Islamic rites. The State Governor, Seyi Makinde, though already verbally informed, would be formally notified early this morning,” Ogunsola said.

Tinubu Approves FCT Head of Service, 9 Perm Secs

President Bola Tinubu has approved the composition of the Federal Capital Territory FCT Civil Service Commission, as well as the appointment of a Head of Service and nine Permanent Secretaries. This was disclosed in a statement on 12th March 2024, by the Director of Press, Anthony Ogunleye in the Office of the FCT Minister, in the nation's capital. Earlier the FCT Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike had written the president appealing the approval for the nominees. The approval follows the provisions of Section 2 (2) (a & b) of the Federal Capital Territory Civil Service Commission (Establishment) Act, 2018, which provides for the appointment of a Chairman and six other members representing each of the geo-political zones of the country.
