Senator Orji Kalu Set To Resume At the Senate Tomorrow

The former governor of Abia state Senator Orji UzorKalu, following the nullification of his 12-year jail termconviction at Nigeria's Supreme Court as well as his eventual release from Kuje Prison, Abuja on Friday is billed to resume at the Senate tomorrow May 12. Senator Kalu was convicted of N7.65billion fraud perpetuated when he was Abia state governor between 1999 and 2007. INEC Decides On Edo And Ondo Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC preparatory to the upcoming gubernatorial election in the southern part of the country specifically Edo and Ondo states, scheduled for later this year organized a meeting on Thursday, May 7, to deliberate on protocols for the resumption of activities and operations of the commission. National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee of INEC, Festus Okoye, said the decision to resume formed part of the resolutions reached at the end of a meeting held on Thursday.

Supreme Court Annul Ex-Gov Kalu's Conviction, Orders Fresh Trial

The Supreme Court has put aside the Federal High Court ruling that convicted and sentenced the former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor-Kalu, to 12 years imprisonment. It then ordered a fresh trial of the defendants.
