President Muhammadu Buhari has officially suspended the inauguration of the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission earlier confirmed by the Senate, assuring that a fresh list of nominees would be sent for fresh confirmation when the interim committee concludes ongoing audit work in the Commission. Buhari said he suspended the inauguration of the new board of the NDDC to enable the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the agency to conclude its current forensic auditing.
The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has lifted the suspension on the Chairperson of Egor Local Government Area, Eghe Ogbemudia, who had been accused of misappropriation. Governor Obaseki made this known in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr Crusoe Osagie.
A Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja on Monday granted Senator Shehu Sani bail over allegations of obtaining money by false pretence and misrepresentation filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to Dailypost, the presiding Justice, I.E.Ekwo made the affirmation after hearing the motion on notice and counter-affidavits from the represented counsels for the federal government and the defendant in the persons of Abba Mohammed and Abdul Ibrahim respectively.
The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, was on Monday unanimously elected as the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors' Forum. According to a statement issued by Mohammad Bello, special adviser to Governor Tambuwal, he replaces outgoing Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, who was absent at the meeting and whose tenure will elapse on February 3, 2020.
In reaction to a comment credited to former chief of Defense Staff, Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma, stressing that if he reveals happenings in the country, Nigerians would no longer sleep. President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that Danjuma’s opinion was not more important than that of Nigerians who re-elected him last year.
