INEC Approves Sept.30 For Eti-Osa Lagos Assembly Bye-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday said the bye-election to fill the vacant Eti-Osa Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly would be held on Sept. 30. Mr Sam Olumekun, INEC’s new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Lagos State, announced the date at a stakeholders meeting attended by party leaders at the Lagos headquarters of the commission.

The Federal High Court Sitting in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of a sum of N7,646,700,000 allegedly belonging to the Former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission linked the offence to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Governors of the South South and South East held a crucial meeting on Sunday in Port Harcourt to harmonize their positions on the burning issues of power devolution and the establishment of State Police. The Governors who spoke to newsmen stated that the meeting became imperative since there was an emerging national consensus on the matters.

Oduah, Others Protest At Anambra PDP Primaries

Senator Stella Oduah on Monday, staged a protest at the venue of the PDP primaries in Anambra state over what she termed unwillingness of the party to listen to the yearnings of aspirants. Speaking in a telephone interview with newsmen, Mr Anayo Ekeanya, Special Adviser, Media to Oduah said that the senator was among four other aspirants who staged a protest in Awka.

Emerging reports indicate that Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the Gubio IDP camp in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Saturday attacked several humanitarian workers, injuring some of them. Also, five Lexus Jeeps were reportedly destroyed during the incident. According to Dailytrust, the incident started when the officials of a yet-to-be identified Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) came to the camp to distribute relief materials to them.
