Police Warns Kanu Over Illegal Biafra Security Service

Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeleye Oyebade has declared the recently formed Biafra Security Service of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as illegal. Oyebade was reacting to a video showing IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, inspecting some youths called ‘secret service’ agents.

Osinbajo Directs Boards of Agencies to Resume In Acting Capacity Pending Senate Confirmation

Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has directed the newly appointed chairmen of the National Pension Commission, Code of Conduct Bureau, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to resume duty.  Mr Bolaji Adebiyi, Permanent Secretary and Director Press Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Friday.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, is attending the presidential inauguration of President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, taking place today in Kigali, the country's capital. The inauguration ceremony will take place at the Amahoro National Stadium, in the country’s capital. The ceremony is expected to be witnessed by several African Heads of State and Government, following President Kagame's victory at the August 4 Rwandan presidential election.

Reps Query NPA Boss Over N5bn Hqtrs Renovation Contract

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts on Wednesday expressed reservations over the award of N5.1 billion contract for renovation of the Headquarters of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in Lagos. A report from the office of the Auditor-General had alleged that there were some infractions in the process of awarding the contract.

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo said members of the Senate and the House of Representatives in Nigeria are a bunch of unarmed robbers, milking the country dry despite widespread poverty in the land. The former President made the statement in Ibadan at a public presentation of a book written by Prof. Mark Nwagwu titled ‘I am Kagara, I Weave the Sands of Sahara’.

Flood Kills 3 In FCT – FEMA

The FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has confirmed the death of three people as a result of the flash flood in Lokogoma Area of the FCT, on Thursday. The Director-General, FEMA, Alhaji Idriss Abbas told newsmen that a man and two of his children; a boy and girl died when their Toyota Highlander SUV entered into the flood.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) has threatened to embark on strike if the Federal Government failed to implement an existing agreement with the Union. The Union which made the position known in a statement signed by the Secretary General of ASUP, Anderson Ezeibe, threw its weight behind the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) stressing that the move was aimed at restoring sanity to the Nigerian Universities.
