The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Aisha Ahmad and Edward Adamu for appointment as deputy governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The lawmakers confirmed the appointments on Thursday during plenary at the upper chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The abducted Dapchi schoolgirls who regained their freedom on Wednesday have been airlifted to Nigeria’s capital Abuja.

They were flown to Abuja aboard a military plane from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital after being handed over to the Federal Government by the military there.

Co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group, Oby Ezekwesili, has reacted to the return of the Dapchi schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe State.

Most of the girls returned to the community on Wednesday morning, more than four weeks after 110 students were kidnapped from the Government Girls Science Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, on February 19.

Former Minister of Education and co-founder of Bring Back Our Girls group, Oby Ezekwesili on Wednesday said the circumstances surrounding the abduction and release of the Dapchi schoolgirls leaves many questions unanswered. Ezekwesili who was reacting to the release of the abducted girls on Wednesday also called for the release of the remaining 112 Chibok girls still in Boko Haram captivity.

The National Assembly has put an end to speculations over the passage of the 2018 budget with the announcement that the appropriation bill will be passed into law on April 24.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, made the disclosure Wednesday during plenary.

According to the Speaker, the 2018 appropriation bill will be laid before both chambers of the NASS on April 19 and then passed the following Tuesday.
