The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has called for the deregistration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) saying it has failed both as a ruling and opposition party. The Minister made the call at a press briefing in Lagos where here gave update and clarification on the circumstances surrounding the abduction and release of the Dapchi Schoolgirls.

More details have now emerged showing how billions of naira and hundred millions of dollars were illegally removed from the public till by the Jonathan administration specifically ahead of the 2015 presidential elections. The information came on the tail of the denial by Jonathan’s spokesmen that any money was taken illegally out of the Nigerian treasury and shared by Jonathan and his aides.

Arewa Consultative Forum, a northern political and socio-cultural group has commended President Buhari's move to grant unconditional amnesty to repentant members of Boko Haram sect. The embattled Kogi Lawmaker, who is also facing possible recall from his constituents said he had not received any court summon based on the allegation being put forward by the Police.

In a bid to win the support of Nigerian youths ahead of the 2019 general elections, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has pledged to give 40 per cent of appointments in his cabinet to youths if he wins the 2019 presidential election. Atiku made the pledge at the inauguration of the national and state executives of a pro Atiku group, Intellectual Think-Tank for Atiku (ITTA) in Abuja.

The groups in a communiqué issued after the summit berated elected officeholders from the region over their inability to address pressing challenges affecting the region especially insecurity and poverty.
