Breaking: #Endsars Protesters Again Set Another Police Station Ablaze In Lagos

In a wake of the EndSARS campaign staged by some youth across the country since last week, some arrant protesters have this afternoon set another police station at Orile Iganmu area of Lagos state.

The ongoing EndSARS protest in Benin city, capital of Edo state has taken another turn, as protesters have broken the walls of the headquarters of the Nigerian Correctional Centre (formerly Nigerian Prison) located around King square and freed inmates. The protesters who after breaking the fence of the correctional centre, located along Benin Sapele road, near the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) office freed the imamates. The authority of the correctional centre is yet to make a statement on the incident as calls put through to were not answered.

The government of Edo State announced the enforcement of a 24-hour curfew because of multiple acts of violence during the #EndSARS protest in the state on Monday. According to reports, hoodlums hiding under the guise of #EndSARS protest invaded the Benin Medium security prison on Sapele Road and released some inmates, Oko Correctional Centre was also attacked and inmates released. 3 police stations in the state were also vandalized, looted, and burnt by the hoodlums. The declaration of the 24-hour curfew was disclosed in a press statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie on Monday.

Defence Minister, Bashir Salihi Magashi, has cautioned the ENDSARS protesters against National Security breach. He warned the youths not to allow their agitation to be hijacked by politicians or people with other ulterior motives against the State. The Minister stated this in Abuja yesterday while receiving the Coordinator of Buhari Campaign organisation (BCO), Danladi Pasali, who led the state officials to the Minister on a courtesy visit. The Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, Mohammed Abdulkadir gave the detail after the meeting.
