A gunman who opened fire at a South Florida high school Wednesday afternoon, killing at least 17 people and injuring dozens more, is now in custody. The shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, a placid, middle-class community about 45 miles (72 km) north of Miami, USA, is ranked as one of the deadliest act of gun violence ever on a U.S. public school campus.

A federal jury on Monday convicted two former members of a defunct Baltimore police gun task force in a corruption trial.

Former detectives Daniel Hersl and Marcus Taylor were convicted of racketeering conspiracy, racketeering and Hobbs Act robbery charges, said Elizabeth Morse, spokeswoman for the US attorney's Office in Maryland.

The two were both acquitted of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, according to Morse. Each faces up to 60 years in prison.

United States President, Donald Trump through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced a donation of $89 million in additional development assistance to Nigeria. The US embassy in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday said the donation was in continuation of US’ support for development goals outlined in a Development Objectives Assistance Agreement signed between both countries.

President Donald Trump's personal lawyer said Tuesday that he paid $130,000 of his own money to a porn star who allegedly had a sexual encounter with the President before his time in office.

"In a private transaction in 2016, I used my own personal funds to facilitate a payment of $130,000 to Ms. Stephanie Clifford," Michael Cohen said in a statement. "Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly."

Keith Davidson, a lawyer for Clifford, said Cohen's claim that he paid her out of his own pocket was "in complete harmony with what he informed me of at the time of the transaction."

A tourist helicopter has crashed in the United States (U.S.) Grand Canyon, killing three people and injuring four others. According to NAN, a dispatcher for the Hualapai Department of Emergency Services told Phoenix television station KNXV that the helicopter was on a tour of the canyon, one of the top U.S. tourist destinations and more than a mile (1.6 km) deep, when it went down.

Another White House aide is resigning amid accusations of domestic abuse, two days after a White House Staff Secretary Rob Porter left his position, another staff, this time, a speechwriter, David Sorensen, is resigning. The cause of Sorensen’s exit is similar to that of Porter whom ex-wives accused of physically abusing them. “Before we were contacted by the media, we learned last night that there were allegations,” said Raj Shah, principal deputy secretary.
