The Presidency on Sunday said President Muhammadu Buhari will defeat former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar even in his home state, Adamawa if he emerges as the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Personal Assistant to the President on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie stated this when she appeared on Channels Television. Onochie who was reacting to the defection of Atiku from the APC to the PDP said.

The Northern Elders Forum may have rejected the Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar. The Chairman of the Forum, Chief Paul Unongo in an interview with The Sun stated that Atiku was jumping from one political party to another because he has nothing to offer the country. He said President Muhammadu Buhari will still win elections in 2019 as the North is not ready to bring PDP back to power.

The President of United Labour Congress (ULC), Comrade Joe Ajaero has charged Nigerian workers to prepare for war as the 30-man Tripartithe Committee on the negotiation of New Minimum Wage prepares to begin sitting. Comrade Ajaero's concern was informed by the presence of 'labour unfriendly' governors in the committee. He explained that some governors who currently owe salaries and pension in their states have found their ways into the committee lamenting that they could be there to justify why the wages should not be increased.

The Ministry of Defence has conducted military pension verification exercise across the country with the aim of blocking all leakages in government expenditure. The Minister of Defence, Dan-Ali who inaugurated the exercise at the Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja stated that the exercise would assist the government in updating existing records as well as eliminate fake or dead pensioners from the records.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of all the 31 Local Government Councils in the Saturday's council poll conducted in Akwa Ibom state by the state Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC). The Chairman of AKISIEC, Aniedi Ikoiwak who declared the result of the poll, hinted that 12 political parties participated in the exercise. He explained that the PDP, won all 31 Chairmanship and 329 councillorship seats.

The Presidency has debunked comments credited to the Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar that President Muhammadu Buhari was allegedly barred from the United States for 15 years due to his religious views. In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina, the Presidency described the claim as “a fictive concoction” lacking in truth. The statement added that at no time was the President barred from entering any country in the world.

Former President, Goodlkuck Jonathan on Friday challenged the governor of Borno state, Ibrahim Shettima to come clean on the abduction of the Chibok Girls, after he was quoted recently as saying Jonathan thought he was behind the abduction. The former President made the call in a statement released to newsmen in Abuja by his Spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze.
