New Emir of Zazzau Emerges

The Kaduna State government has announced Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamali as the 19th Emir of Zazzau. This was disclosed in a press statement on Wednesday by the Kaduna Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Ja’afaru Sani. His predecessor Shehu Sani died on Sunday, September 20, 2020, after ruling the Zazzau Emirate for 45 years. The statement read in part, “Following the death of His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Shehu Idris, the late 18th Emir of Zazzaus, the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has approved the immediate appointment of Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamali as the 19th Emir of Zazzau. “Bamali is the 1st Emir from the Mallawa ruling house in 100 years, following the death of his grandfather, Emir Dan Sidi in 1920.”

President Buhari Mourns Late Emir Of Zazzau

The Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, on Sunday led the Federal Government's delegation to witness the laying to rest of the late Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, one of Nigeria's traditional leaders. The delegation include the Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika Senior Special Assistant to the President on media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu. Alhaji Idris died aged 84 in the hospital on Sunday in Kaduna state after a short admission. The remains of the monarch have been laid to rest at his palace in Zaria besides some past emirs of the emirate.

Governor Zulum Distributes 80,000 Food Items To IDPs Despite Attack

Despite an ambush attack on the convoy of Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum by suspected members of Boko Haram terror group, the governor has continued his humanitarian actions and has delivered food items to about 80,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno State. The governor arrived Monguno LGA, on Monday where he personally supervised the distribution of relief materials and food items to IDPs from Marte, Guzamala, Kukawa, Nganzai, and Monguno.

Emir of Zazzau Dies At 84

The 18th Emir of Zazzau kingdom, Emir Shehu Idris has passed on Sunday at the age of 84. Emir Shehu Idris who ascended to the throne in 1975 at the age of 36 is one of the longest-serving monarch in Nigeria. Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai who confirmed the news of Emir Shehu Idris demise, described him as a rare gem, a source of wisdom, guidance, and a true father of all, praying that God Grant his soul abode in Aljanna Firdaus.

Sallah Celebrations: President Buhari Calls For Patience From Nigerians

President Muhammadu Buhari, while Muslim faithful around the country prepared to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, urged Nigerians to continue to exercise patience in the face of inconveniences brought to bear by enforced measures to curtail COVID-19, especially at places of worship. Buhari noted that the outbreak of coronavirus had made it difficult for people to gather in places of worship.
