COVID-19: Saudi Arabia To Hold 'Limited' 2020 Hajj

Following the COVID-19 global pandemic, of Saudi Arabia in a bid to curb the spread of the disease has announced that it will allow a 'very limited' number of residents in the Kingdom to perform hajj this year. This came after some Muslim nations pulled out of this year's hajj. Also, Saudi has in recent times recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the Gulf area. The Saudi Arabia Hajj ministry said the annual ritual will be open to various nationalities already residing in the Kingdom.

FG To Reopen School Churches And Mosques

The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, stated that the President Muhammadu Buhari would decide on when school, churches and mosques are to reopen. Boss said the task force submitted the fourth interim report to the president on Sunday 30th may 2020, and also to update him of the progress made in the last two weeks.

Eid-el-Fitr: President Buhari Charges Muslim Faithful To Remember The Reason For The Season

President MuhammaduBuhari on Sunday observed Eid-el-Fitr prayers with his immediate family at the State House, Abuja. The President through his official Twitter handle, @MBuhari, said he joined his family for Eid prayers at home, in keeping with the Presidential Task Force, PTF, on COVID-19 protocol against mass gatherings, as well as the directive of the Sultan of Sokoto suspending Eid congregational prayers across the country.

Following the reopening of worship centres, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have commenced working on safety guidelines at worship centres in a bid to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 in churches and mosques.

Eid-al-Fitr: FG Declares Monday and Tuesday As Public Holidays'

The Federal Government through the ministry of interior has declared Monday 25th of May and Tuesday 26 May, as Public Holidays to mark this year’s Eid-al-Fitr Celebration. Mohammed Manga, Director Press and Public Relations in the Ministry made this disclosure on behalf of the Minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in Abuja.
