Christians To Wear Black Come Ash Wednesday Procession

The leadership of the Diocese of Roman Catholic Church in Nigeria, have revealed that millions of Christian faithful will embark on a procession come Wednesday, Feb.

26 all clad in black attire during "Ash Wednesday" to display their grievances over the killings in Nigeria and the insecurity situation of the country. Rev. Fr. Felix Gobi, the Senior Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Nankai in Jalingo, the Taraba State made the information public during the mass sermon on Sunday, Feb. 23.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has on Thursday kicked in what it described as the toughest stance to make since the assumption of President Buhari into the office in 2015. While conducting what was tagged, a World Press Conference, Reverand Samson Anyokule, the Nigerian CAN president cried out that Nigerian Christians was under siege.

The President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has called for a continued dialogue among religious faithful in the country. The Sultan made this call at the opening of the 34th National Qur’anic recitation Competition organised by the Musabaqah Foundation for Qur’anic Recitation in Nigeria at the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto in collaboration with the Muslim Community of Lagos state.

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has said that the murderous conducts of the Islamic State, IS, do not portray the ideology and thoughts of Muslims, contrary to claims that Muslims in the North may be in support of the killing of Christians.

President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and his Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III has called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to always analyse national issues bordering on peace and security before making any comment. The Sultan made this call on Wednesday during the 77th Islamic Vocation Course, organised by Zone A of the Muslim Students Society (MSS).
