Landslide Kills Dozens in Congo

A landslide after heavy rains in an eastern area of the Democratic Republic of Congo has killed dozens of people, according to an estimate of the number of households buried by tons of mud, an official said Saturday.

South Africa Borders On 'Red Alert' For Grace Mugabe

South African police have issued a "red alert" at the country's borders for Zimbabwe's First Lady Grace Mugabe, the police minister has said. She is accused of hitting a 20-year-old woman over the head with an extension cord in a hotel room near Johannesburg.

Nine officials of the United Nations were on Monday killed in two separate attacks by unknown gunmen in Mali. According to a report by the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSA), seven people were killed when gunmen attacked MINUSA headquarters in Timbuktu. The deceased include five MINUSA security guards, one member of the Mali National Police and a civilian contractor working for the UN. Also, seven persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the attack.

Grace Mugabe

South Africa has granted diplomatic immunity to Zimbabwe first lady Grace Mugabe, allowing her to return to Harare and avoid prosecution for the alleged assault of a 20-year-old model, a security source said on Friday. The source also told Reuters that Mugabe, 52, had failed to appear in a Johannesburg magistrate's court on Tuesday under an agreement struck with police because of fears she might be attacked.

Odinga

Kenya's opposition leader Raila Odinga says he will mount a legal challenge to the result of last week's presidential election, which he claims was rigged. Mr Odinga, who was defeated by incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta, has accused the electoral authorities of fraud tantamount to "democracy's slaughter".

Zimbabwe's first lady, Grace Mugabe, presented herself to South African police and is due to appear before a judge in court on Tuesday after reports she had assaulted a woman in company of her son’s in Johannesburg over the weekend, Vigil360 reports. The 52-year-old Grace, a possible successor to her husband, Zimbabwe's 93-year-old president Robert Mugabe, was investigated over the incident which left the woman with lacerations on her face and scalp.
