The sacked Vice President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa will arrive Harare on Wednesday ahead of his swearing in billed to take place on Thursday. Robert Mugabe had submitted his resignation letter to the National Assembly on Tuesday evening after his Party sacked him as the party leader and called for his immediate resignation. The party had accused him of highhandedness and allowing his wife to usurp constitutional powers.

Uganda's parliament says it will stop meeting until the government presents a report into a string of murders that some fear is the work of a serial killer.

The impeachment motion which will be heard in a joint sitting of the lower and upper house of the parliament accuses Mugabe of being "the source of instability" within government and allowing his wife, Grace Mugabe, to "usurp constitutional power."

The President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe on Tuesday submitted his resignation letter to the Members of Parliament after his party ZANU-PF sacked him as the national leader and demanded his resignation. The development was triggered by a clinically executed military operation that started on November 15.

Robert Mugabe has resigned as president of Zimbabwe with immediate effect after 37 years in power, the speaker of the country’s parliament has said.

The announcement came during a parliamentary hearing to impeach him, following a military takeover last week.

A letter submitted to parliament by the 93-year-old said his decision to resign was voluntary on his part.

The Secretary of State of the United States, Mr. Rex Tillerson, said on Monday that his government has supported the training of more than 27,000 African peacekeepers for the UN and African Union (AU) missions in 2017.

Tillerson said the United States had supported 20 African nations this year in training its peacekeepers for both continental and international organizations.

"The United States, as the largest contributor to the development of peacekeeping capabilities, is also helping more than 20 African countries to train, deploy and maintain their peacekeeping forces.
