Zimbabwe's ruling party, Zanu-PF has sacked embattled President Robert Mugabe as its leader few days after the country's military confined him to his residence in an operation purportedly geared toward weeding criminal elements around the president. In Mugabe's place, the party has appointed Emmerson Mnangagwa who was recently fired by the President on allegation of disloyalty.

Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe on Friday made his first public appearance since the country's Military placed him under house arrest but denied taking over power. The 93-years-old President on Friday attended a graduation ceremony at the Zimbabwe Open University in the capital, Harare, where he was welcomed by a cheering crowd of supporters.

Senegal Set To Open New $575 Million Airport

The largest airport in Senegal will open its doors on December 7, after more than a decade of development and delays.

At least five people were reported killed on Friday after a peaceful demonstration in Nairobi, Kenya organized by Raila Odinga's supporters turned violent following a clash with the police. The incident started when the Police attempted to dispel supporters who had gathered to welcome Odinga back to the country after a trip abroad. The supporters had gathered around Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Overnight Fire Razes Cameroonian Parliament

A fire swept through the main building of Cameroon’s parliament in Yaounde overnight, causing substantial damage, local television reported Friday.

The President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma and four Foreign Ministers from the South African region are currently meeting in Botswana to discuss and resolve the current political crisis in Zimbabwe triggered by the ousting of President Robert Mugabe by the Military. Yesterday, the Zimbabwean military in a public broadcast stated that the crackdown was to take care of criminal elements around Mugabe and denied that the military had taken over power. They claimed that the President was safe and urged all citizens to remain calm.
