Osun State Government To Making Farming Look More Lucrative

In a bid to tackle unemployment in Osun state, the state government has decided to create a farm settlement across the state. This initiative is also going to boost the state government economy and also enable the state to be amongst the top producer of agro products in Nigeria.

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) on Friday called on the National Assembly to speedily pass the 2019 budget to stimulate economic growth in the face of mounting unsold inventories recorded in 2018. The Director General of the association, Mr. Segun Ajayi-Kadir, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.

Prof. James Epoke, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar has said the cost of governance in Nigeria was too much, noting that no country can make meaningful progress by spending huge resources in governance.
Epoke who stated this in an exclusive interview with Punch called on Organized Labour to mobilize against State Governors who spend so much on vehicles in convoy and other frivolities.

The Federal Government has said it will extend its no-interest loan scheme, TraderMoni, to Ekiti State on Monday. The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Mobilisation to Gov. Kayode Fayemi, Mr Tunji Ogunlola, disclosed this to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Friday while speaking on the Vice President’s visit to the state.

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state was on an inspection of the ongoing second Niger Bridge, he expressed satisfaction with the standard and the pace of the work. The governor, who was exited with the extent of the work done so far, said he was convinced that the Federal Government under President Buhari would complete the work as promised and visibly Nigerians are witness to that.

Imminent Review Of Revenue Allocation Formula

The adoption of a new minimum wage of N30, 000 has necessitated the review of the national revenue sharing formula as demanded by State Governments. According to reports, the Federal Government has therefore resolved to engage the 36 States Governors and the Council of State in a review of the nation’s federal allocation sharing formula.

PMB Inaugurates Technical Advisory Committee On Minimum Wage

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday 9th January 2019 inaugurated a new Technical Advisory Committee on the implementation of a National Minimum Wage. The committee is to advise the government on how best to fund, in a sustained manner, the additional costs that will arise from the implementation of the consequential increases in salaries and allowances for workers currently earning above the new minimum wage.

CBN Moves To Ensure Seamless Credit Allocation

The Central Bank of Nigeria has expressed its commitment to improving credit allocation in the Country. The apex bank stated that this was part of its long-term strategy for strengthening the Nigerian economy.

About 120,000 rice farmers in Kano state have been pencilled down to benefit from the Federal Government Anchor Borrowers program for this year dry season farming. The statement was disclosed by the state chairman of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu in an interview in Kano on Tuesday (NAN).
