Three to four billion pounds of criminal money in Europe is being laundered through cryptocurrencies, according to Europol.

The agency's director Rob Wainwright told the BBC's Panorama that regulators and industry leaders need to work together to tackle the problem.

The warning comes after Bitcoin's value fell by half from record highs in December.

Google’s numerous safeguards designed to prevent malicious apps from reaching Android users led to the removal of over 700,000 apps from the Google Play Store in 2017, the company said yesterday. That’s a 70 percent increase over the total removals in 2016. “Not only did we remove more bad apps, we were able to identify and action against them earlier,” Google Play product manager Andrew Ahn wrote in a blog post. “99 percent of apps with abusive contents were identified and rejected before anyone could install them.”

Cybersecurity firm Kapersky, in a report mentioned that the spy tool collects messages from WhatsApp and could secretly turn on the front-facing camera of a Smartphone and take photos when the user unlocks the device, "one could only guess how the criminals will use these photos.”
