Cyber security pioneer, John McAfee has revealed his Twitter account was hacked and used to promote lesser known crypto-currencies. But Mr. McAfee insisted the breach did not reflect badly on his own company’s cyber-security credentials, saying: “I have no control over Twitter’s security.”

A Moscow-based security firm said on Monday that a previously undetected group of Russain-language hackers stole about $10 million from mostly U.S. and Russian banks by targeting interbank transfer systems.

Group-IB researchers have warned that the attacks, which began 18 months ago and allow money to be stolen from banks’ automated teller machines (ATMs), appear to be ongoing and that banks in Latin America could be targeted next.

The first attack occurred in the spring of 2016 against banks in First Data’s (FDC.N) “STAR” network, the largest U.S. bank messaging system connecting ATMs at more than 5,000 organizations, Group-IB researchers disclosed.

China has shut down or revoked the licenses of 13,000 websites, it terms ‘illegal’ since 2015 for violating the country’s internet rules, Xinhua reported Sunday.

Wang Shengjun, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), disclosed the information when briefing lawmakers on cyberspace protection Sunday.

Authorities including the Cyberspace Administration of China have called over 2,200 websites operators for talks during the same period, he said.

In addition, operators have closed nearly 10 million internet accounts for violating service protocol, while information on terrorism and pornography has been removed.

A 35-year-old man from New Jersey, Louis Meza, has been charged by the Manhattan District Attorney's office with kidnapping, robbery and criminal use of a firearm.

According to the DA's statement, Meza arranged to meet with an acquaintance on 4 November. After the meeting, Meza called a car for his friend but when he got into the minivan, the victim was met with another man, who allegedly had been waiting inside the vehicle with a gun.

According to the indictment, Meza reportedly knew that his friend possessed around $1.8m (£1.3m) of Ethereum in his digital wallet. The victim, whose identity still remains unknown, was forced to hand over his wallet, phone and home keys at gunpoint by the second man.

A Bitcoin exchange service has revealed that a group of Highly professional hackers made away with around 4,700 Bitcoin from NiceHash a leading mining service.

The hacked service NiceHash is a Slovenia-based mining exchange service, that pairs up people with spare computing power with those willing to pay to use it to mine for new Bitcoin.

The service said it was working assiduously to recover the Bitcoin for its users hinting that "Someone really wanted to bring us down."
