In the not too distant future, surveillance cameras sitting atop over 100,000 lampposts in Singapore could help authorities pick out and recognize faces in crowds across the island-state, Reuters’ news agency reports.

The plan to install the cameras, which will be linked to facial recognition software, is raising privacy fears among security experts and rights groups. The government said the system would allow it to “perform crowd analytics” and support anti-terror operations.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday told lawmakers that he was among about 87 million Facebook users whose data was improperly shared with political consultancy Cambridge Analytica.

But the chief executive of the world’s largest social media network pushed back on Congress members’ suggestions that users do not have enough control of their data on Facebook.

“Every time that someone chooses to share something on Facebook ... there is a control. Right there. Not buried in the settings somewhere but right there,” the 33-year-old internet billionaire told the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee.

According to the Daily Beast, Zuckerberg, who will testify before Congress on Tuesday and Wednesday, wrote that it was “clear now that we didn’t do enough to prevent these tools from being used for harm as well.

Tesla has been removed from the investigation into the fatal crash of one of its semi-autonomous vehicles.

In March, a Tesla vehicle operating in Autopilot mode crashed in California, killing the driver. Tesla has suggested the driver was at fault.

On Thursday, the National Transportation Safety Board said Tesla had "violated the party agreement by releasing investigative information".

Tesla says it decided to remove itself from the investigation.

The video for the hit song Despacito, which has more than five billion views on Youtube has been hacked.

Several other music videos of artists posted on Youtube by music hosting service Vevo including: Shakira, Selena Gomez, Drake and Taylor Swift, were also affected by the attack.

The clip's original cover image was replaced with a photo showing a group of persons wearing masks and pointing guns.

The Russian government has initiated legal action to block the Telegram messaging app in the country.

The Roskomnadzor media regulator is seeking the block owing to the claim that the firm has refused to hand over encryption keys used to scramble messages.

Telegram, which is based in Dubai, was given a deadline of 4 April, to hand over the keys.
