Anambra Guber Election: Obaze Emerges PDP Candidate

Former SSG and retired diplomat, Dr. Oseloka Henry Obaze on Monday, clinched the PDP ticket for the November 18 Anambra State governorship election. In the results announced by Chairman of the party gubernatorial primaries committee, Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, Obaze pulled 672 votes out of a total of 956 valid votes cast at the primary election.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday received almost a two-hour briefing from the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, and Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, according to News Agency of Nigeria.

The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Prof. Itse Sagay has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ignore those seeking the repatriation of the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke. He claimed that the calls were being made in bad faith, knowing that they would exploit the loopholes in the nation's anti-corruption laws to escape justice.

Eid-el-Kabir: Friday, Monday, declared public holidays

Friday, September 1 and Monday, September 4, 2017 has been declared as public holidays by the Federal Government of Nigeria to mark Eid el Kabir celebrations.

Charles Oputa, also known as Charlyboy, under the auspices of OurMumuDonDo movement stormed the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Abuja, to demand the extradition of the former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke from the United Kingdom to  Nigeria to face charges on corruption allegations.

The Arewa Youths Forum said the quit notice earlier issued to all Igbos residing in the Northern part of the country to vacate the region before October 1 achieved its purpose before the Forum withdrew it. One of the leaders of the group, Alhaji Yerima Shettima stated this in a chat with Vanguard. He explained that the group decided to withdraw the quit notice because of the respect they have for the President, Muhammadu Buhari as well as their quest to ensure the unity of the country.
