The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS has officially handed over food items worth one million US dollars to the Borno State Government for the internally displaced people in the North-East. Handing over the food items to the Borno State Government and the National Emergency Management Agency in Maiduguri, the Acting Director of Humanitarian Affairs of ECOWAS, Mrs. Florence Iheme, said the donation was in fulfilment of the promise made by the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mr. Marcel Alain de Souza, when he visited Maiduguri last year.

A Coalition of Civil Society Organizations made up of Centre for Civil Society and Justice among others stormed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday in support of President Muhammadu Buhari. The leader of the group, Nelson Ekujumi who adedressed newsmen during the solidarity rally in support of the President, stated that the President has not violated any constitutional provision having transmitted a letter to the National Assembly before his departure from the country.

Members of Arewa Youth Forum on Wednesday accused some officials in the Presidency as well as some Northern State Governors of sponsoring ongoing "Return or Resign" protest in the Federal Capital Territory. The group which made the position known on Wednesday in a statement issued by its National President, Alhaji Gambo Ibrahim Gujungu warned that if the sponsors of the protest failed to call their boys to order, they will be exposed.

The Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki on Thursday sacked about 96 of his personal aides. The Special Adviser to the Senate President on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu who confirmed the development while briefing newsmen at the National Assembly on Thursday stated that the move became imperative to cut cost of governance as well as reposition the Office toward achieving the mandate of the 8th Assembly.

The Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) has condemned calls for the boycott of the Anambra state Governorship elections saying such move was borne out of misinformation and ultimately against the interest of the South East which the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) claim to be projecting.
