The national leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has boycotted a last minute meeting with the Federal Government (FG) convened by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, with the aim of preventing the 2 day earning strike set to commence tomorrow, Tuesday.

According to reports, only the leadership of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) led by its president, Festus Osifo was present for the meeting which was held behind closed doors on Monday.

Recall that on Friday, the NLC declared that workers across the country would embark on a 2-day warning strike commencing from Tuesday, 5 September 2023.

Circulating reports indicates that several workers' unions such as the National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions Employees (NUBIFIE), the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP), amongst others, would also embark on strike action in solidarity with the NLC planned nationwide strike.

More details later.
