Appeal Court President Directs All Election Appeals To Abuja, Lagos

Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, the President of the Court of Appeal has directed all appeals from election petition cases nationwide to the Abuja and Lagos divisions of the Court of Appeal. Her order affects all the Governorship, National and States Assemblies Elections held between February and March 2023 and was as result of allegations and petitions against state tribunal judges.

Fears As LP Lawmakers Fervent For Appeal Court Judgment

Labour Party (LP) members at the National Assembly are being threatened at the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal on their emergence in national politics. The development follows tribunal verdicts across states that have sacked some lawmakers over lack of proper nomination and other pre-election matters.

Bayelsa, Imo, Kogi Election Results To Be Transmitted Electronically – INEC

The Chairman Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has declared that the results for the Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi governorship elections will be transmitted electronically. Yakubu stated this while speaking with newsmen at Ward 009, LEA School, Ganaja Village, Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Kogi State. He said that the commission would follow the laws for accreditation and results collation during the state’s elections.

Court of Appeal Sacks Senator Abbo

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has sacked Senator Elisha Abbo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Adamawa North district. The judgment which was delivered on Monday by a three-member panel led by Justice C.E. Nwosu-Iheme, declared Amos Yohanna, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the rightful winner of the election.

Pain of Fuel Subsidy Removal not Permanent -FG

The Federal Government through its Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has reiterated during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, that the pain presently faced by Nigerians over the removal of fuel subsidy is not permanent. The Minister explained that it was obvious that the ultimate benefits of the removal of the subsidy would be reaped by the common man. Idris said it was regrettable that only a few people were, hitherto, benefitting from the subsidy regime adding that the few were enjoying the commonwealth of the entire country at the expense of the majority. “So, President Bola Tinubu said, he would not be part of that. He stands with the majority of Nigerians. Although the removal will be painful at the beginning, it will be better for all of us at the end,” he said.

President Tinubu Appoints Ibrahim Imam As Chairman Of Reconstituted FERMA Board

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday reconstituted the governing board and management team of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) for a renewable term of four years. Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesperson, announced the development in a statement on Friday.
