Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai says the Peoples Democratic Party is not a threat to the ruling party in next year’s general elections. Mallam El-Rufai said this while delivering the first Public lecture of Al-hikmah University titled ” Governing justly: Perspectives from near and far with lessons for Nigeria”, held at the University’s auditorium.
Anti-Corruption: Senate Passes Federal Audit Service Commission Bill
The Nigerian Senate in a bid to boost the fight against corruption passed a bill called Federal Audit Service Commission Bill. The Bill will establish the Federal Audit Service Commission and the office of Auditor-General of the Federation with provision for additional Powers. The Commission will be empowered to carry out performance audits of all revenues accruing to the federation, expenditures of the federation from all sources, donations, grants and loans accruable to all federal ministries, departments and agencies.
Alleged False Information: Court Grants Melaye N100,000 Bail
A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the Senator representing Kogi West Constituency, Senator Dino Melaye, in the sum of N100,000 and one surety, who is not less than a level 14 in the Federal Civil Service, Channels Television News reports.
Senator Melaye was charged to court on a two-count charge of giving false information against the Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Government, Edward David.
Presidency Throws Weight Behind Magu Again, Says He Is Going Nowhere
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo reaffirmed the complete support of the Presidency on the embattled, Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) saying he is “going nowhere”. Speaking to some media organisations at the presidential villa in Abuja, on Thursday, Osinbajo said Magu has not committed any offence to warranted the treatment meted to him by the Senate during his confirmation.
