A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu-Sherrif on Thursday met President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed door at the State House, Abuja. According to Punch, the meeting lasted for about one hour in the President's office. The report says on arrival at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for the meeting at about 2.40pm, Sherrif had promised to speak with State House correspondents at the end of it, but avoided them after the meeting.

The Senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Prince Buruji Kashamu has accused some politicians of being responsible for his recent travail following a recent Court of Appeal decision to give the Federal Government a nod to extradite him to the United State to face trial in a drug-related offence.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday evening reacted to the claim by the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki on the floor of the senate that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris was planning to implicate him using thugs and cultists. The party in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan said the development was simply as “brazen assaults on the institutions of democracy” by the Police.

A High Court sitting in Kogi state on Wednesday granted the embattled Senator representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye bail on health ground. Justice Naair Ajana granted Senator Melaye bail to the tone of N10m and one surety in like sum.

Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has debunked media reports suggesting that he has dumped his gubernatorial ambition in the September 22, governorship election in the state. Omisore in a statement issued to newsmen by his media team on Wednesday described the rumour as the handiwork of his political detractors and enemies of progress.

The senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani on Wednesday confirmed that the National Assembly increased the amount of the 2018 budget to N9.120 trillion from N8.612 trillion with due consultation with the executive. Recall that the Chairman of the committee, Sen. Danjuma Goje, on Tuesday laid the report before the Senate in plenary, six months after it was presented by President Muhammadu Buhari. The budget was eventually passed by the Senate on Wednesday.

A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court on Wednesday granted former National Security Adviser (NSA) Col. Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (Rtd) bail after he was re-arraigned on the allegation of $2.1bn arms fund diversion. According to NAN, Dasuki was docked on 32 counts amended charges along with Aminu Baba Kusa, Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital.
