A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu-Sherrif on Thursday met President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed door at the State House, Abuja. According to Punch, the meeting lasted for about one hour in the President's office. The report says on arrival at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for the meeting at about 2.40pm, Sherrif had promised to speak with State House correspondents at the end of it, but avoided them after the meeting.
After the meeting, the former governor of Borno State was seen exchanging pleasantries briefly with some state governors who were in the Presidential Villa for a meeting of the National Economic Council presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.
He thereafter, avoided newsmen, despite his initial promise to speak with them on his mission.
He lost the battle for the chairmanship of the PDP at the Supreme Court to Ahmed Makarfi last year. Sherrif had, last year, met with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Few weeks ago, he indicated his interest to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the party cancelled the event put in place to receive him at the National Headquarters. He was eventually told to rejoin the party at his ward.
