The senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani on Wednesday confirmed that the National Assembly increased the amount of the 2018 budget to N9.120 trillion from N8.612 trillion with due consultation with the executive. Recall that the Chairman of the committee, Sen. Danjuma Goje, on Tuesday laid the report before the Senate in plenary, six months after it was presented by President Muhammadu Buhari. The budget was eventually passed by the Senate on Wednesday.

The Senator in a series of tweets said there was no cause for alarm as the increment was done between the legislature and the executive. One of the post read;

"It’s true that the 2018 budget was jerked up from its original 8.6 trillion to 9.1 trillion. That happened in close consultations and agreement between the National Assembly led by the Appropriation committee and the Executive. The committee confirmed this."
