The Kwara State Government has disclosed that the Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki has returned all pensions collected from the state Government since he left office as the governor of the state.  The Secretary to the Kwara State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold who made this known on Wednesday stated that the clarification became necessary following controversial and unverified media reports surrounding payment of pensions to former state governors of the state, particularly the Senate President.

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Makarfi, on Tuesday inaugurated the party’s National Convention Planning Committee headed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, with a charge that the panel immediately devote itself to the preparations for the Special Non-Elective National Convention on August 12.

The Federal Government has ordered the withdrawal of law suit instituted against seven commercial banks suspected to have circumvented the Treasury Single Account policy. The suit was filed at the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos. The accused banks include Diamond Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), First Bank, Skye Bank, Fidelity Bank, Sterling Bank and the defunct Keystone Bank (now Heritage Bank).

Emerging reports revealed that the ten man committee mandated to resolve all contentious issues between the North and the South East has failed to reach a consensus that will facilitate the withdrawal of the quit notice issued to all Igbos to vacate the Northern Region on or before October 1.

The Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Zakari Kazaure has urged Corps Members across the country to inter-marry assuring that he will personally attend the ceremony. The DG made the remarks while addressing the Batch B Stream A Corps members currently undergoing their orientation course at the Amada Orientation Camp, Gombe state.

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has called on the National Assembly to expunge from the constitutional provisions that recommend age limit as a condition for eligibility in contesting for the office of the president. The former President made this known on Sunday when he featured on Sunday as the guest speaker at an event tagged "God in my Life" organized by the Torchbearer Society of Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, Ikeja, Lagos state.

Justice Chuka Obiozor of Federal High Court, Lagos today ordered permanent forfeiture to the Federal Government of a $37.5m skyscraper on the highbrow Banana Island, Lagos, belonging to former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke. The Judge, also ordered that the sums of $2,740,197.96 and N84,537,840.70 realised as rents on the property should also be forfeited to the Federal Government.
