The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Makarfi, on Tuesday inaugurated the party’s National Convention Planning Committee headed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, with a charge that the panel immediately devote itself to the preparations for the Special Non-Elective National Convention on August 12.

The Federal Government has ordered the withdrawal of law suit instituted against seven commercial banks suspected to have circumvented the Treasury Single Account policy. The suit was filed at the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos. The accused banks include Diamond Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), First Bank, Skye Bank, Fidelity Bank, Sterling Bank and the defunct Keystone Bank (now Heritage Bank).

Emerging reports revealed that the ten man committee mandated to resolve all contentious issues between the North and the South East has failed to reach a consensus that will facilitate the withdrawal of the quit notice issued to all Igbos to vacate the Northern Region on or before October 1.

The Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Zakari Kazaure has urged Corps Members across the country to inter-marry assuring that he will personally attend the ceremony. Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has called on the National Assembly to expunge from the constitutional provisions that recommend age limit as a condition for eligibility in contesting for the office of the president. Justice Chuka Obiozor of Federal High Court, Lagos today ordered permanent forfeiture to the Federal Government of a $37.5m skyscraper on the highbrow Banana Island, Lagos, belonging to former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke. The Judge, also ordered that the sums of $2,740,197.96 and N84,537,840.70 realised as rents on the property should also be forfeited to the Federal Government.
