The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said it has inaugurated a programme to offer medical assistance to victims of the Makurdi flood in Benue state. The Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya made the disclosure on Monday in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja. According to the statement, the programme was inaugurated by the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Tactical Air Command (TAC) of NAF, Air Vice Marshal MA Idris.

The striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) said the Federal Government was yet to formally invite the Union for the continuation of negotiation to end the ongoing industrial action. The president of the Union, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi stated this on Sunday in a chat with Punch. He explained that though the aggrieved University lecturers were ready and willing to dialogue with the Federal Government, no invitation had been extended to them for such engagement.

Sallah Message: Nigeria Will Achieve Prosperity – Buhari

The United Kingdom on Thursday officially opened its new Embassy in Abuja, which it said would further strengthen its relationship with Nigeria. Boris Johnson, the British Foreign Secretary who unveiled the new diplomatic complex at 8:13 a.m., said it signified the growing relationship between the Commonwealth pair. “It gives me great pleasure to open this wonderful, new, super, colossal British High Commission in the Nigeria’s capital, Abuja,” Mr. Johnson said.

Anti-Corruption War: Vatican Lends Support To Nigeria

Archbishop Antonio Fillpazzi , the Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, Embassy of Holy See Vatican, has pledged Vatican’s support for the anti-corruption crusade and development of education in Nigeria. Fillpazzi said this on Thursday in Abuja when he paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama.
