Following the flood disaster that has affected several parts of Benue state at the weekend, Governor Samuel Ortom has appealed for financial assistance from the Federal Government toward tackling the effects of the natural disasters in the state. Ortom made the appeal at a ceremony to mark the 45th birthday of his wife, Mrs. Eunice Ortom, held at the Redeemed Christian Church, Mega Parish, Makurdi.

The leader of Arewa Youth Forum, Alhaji Yerima Shettima has called on President Muhbammadu Buhari not to consider restructuring the country, stressing that what the country needs now is not restructuring as being canvassed by some stakeholders. Shettima stated this in a chat with newsmen in Kaduna.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday held a crucial meeting with stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and those of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. While the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun led delegations from the ruling party, the Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the PDP, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi led the PDP team to the meeting.

The Federal Government and the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) may have commenced processes toward facilitating an upward review of the current minimum wage for workers in the country. The Secretary General of the Congress, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson stated this on Saturday in an interview with newsmen in Abuja. He disclosed that the Federal Government has already requested for a list of representatives expected to join government representatives in the negotiation process.

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has distanced himself from the clamour for the restructuring of Nigeria by some section of Nigerians. Obasanjo, who faulted the call said what Nigeria needs now is not restructuring of the country but that of individual mentality. 
He made his stance known on the sidelines of the African Leadership Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Federal Government has asked the court to revoke the bail granted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, who is being prosecuted along with some of his co-conspirators on treasonable felony charges. The application seeking the revocation of Kanu’s bail was released to journalists in Abuja on Friday by the Special Assistant to the Attorney-General of the Federation on Media and Publicity, Mr. Salihu Isah.
