Northern Youths under the aegis of Arewa Youth Assembly on Wednesday staged a peaceful in the Federal Capital Territory over alleged activities of the leader of Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) which they described as inimical to the sovereignty of the country. The protesters numbering over one hundred displayed placards with various inscriptions such as "The Unity of Nigeria is Non-Negotiable", "Arrest Nnamdi Kanu Now" and 'Nnamdi Kanu is Undermining the Sovereignty of Nigeria. Arrest Him."

The aggrieved protesters marched from the Unity Fountain, Maitama Abuja through the Federal Secretariat Complex before terminating at the 3 Arms Zone.

Recall that a similar socio-cultural organization in the region known as Arewa Youth Forum had earlier called on the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo to order immediate arrest of Kanu. The group claimed that the leader of IPOB was propagating hate speeches especially in his comments at the various rallies he organized across the South East after his released from detention. The Forum also threatened to drag Kanu and his group to the United Nations.
