Nigeria’s Electoral Commission has engaged the European Centre for Electoral Support, ECES, to train heads of Voter Education and Publicity departments across the 36 States. The five-day exercise, which is holding in Calabar, Cross River State, is expected to develop the capacity of the participants on avenues to ensure credible polls and forestall possible election crisis.

The senate has resolved to transmit the “Not too young to run” bill and 11 others to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent. The resolution was taken following the decision of the upper legislative chamber to adopt the conference committee reports on the bills on Tuesday.

Members of Arewa Youth Assembly on Monday said they would massively mobilize support across the country for the reelection bid of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019. The group in a statement jointly signed by the Speaker and Clerk of the Assembly, Mohammed Salihu and Desmond Minakaro also said that it will ensure that President Buhari's second term comes with people of integrity across all levels.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday urged the general public to disregard media reports that the Commission had commenced recruitment of ad hoc staff for the conduct of the 2019 general elections. The Commission made the clarification in an online post published on its website and social media handles. The post said the claim that it would recruit 100, 000 ad hoc staff to prosecute the 2019 general elections was totally false.
